Why us
Why Low Fell homeowners choose us
Time-served in five trades
Bricklaying, joinery, plastering, plumbing and electrical — served properly, not picked up on the way. In the industry since 1986.
Ex-Forces owned
8 years in the British Army between two stints in the trade. Timekeeping and tidiness are not extras here.
One firm for the whole job
Groundworks, brickwork, joinery, plastering, plumbing and electrical under one roof. You are not hiring five trades and refereeing when they blame each other.
The local picture
Builders in Low Fell, done properly
Low Fell is Victorian and Edwardian terrace and villa built up the hill, and the slope is the defining feature of nearly every job. Gardens run steeply away from the house, so terracing into usable levels with properly founded and drained retaining walls is the work we do most here. The housing stock is solid-wall, which means lime rather than cement on any repointing, and rear extensions rather than anything that alters a street frontage. Practically, the slope decides the sequence: retaining and drainage come before anything decorative, and steps and levels between the house and the garden usually need designing rather than improvising. On the building side, the solid-wall stock means any repointing goes back in lime, and rear extensions are the realistic route since street frontages here are tightly held. Access on the terraced streets is the other thing worth agreeing up front, because skip placement and deliveries are rarely as simple as they look.

In their own words
Trusted by homeowners across the North East
Real customers, real names, real jobs.
Yes, and it is the job we do most here. The slope comes out as terraces rather than one flat sheet, held by retaining walls that are founded and drained properly. Drainage behind a retaining wall is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether it is still straight in ten years.
The stock here is solid-wall Victorian and Edwardian with no cavity. Cement traps water inside the wall and pushes the damage out through the face of the brick. Lime lets it dry. On a solid wall that is not a preference, it is the repair.
Almost never on a Low Fell frontage — the work goes to the rear. The fall away from the house then usually makes steps and drainage part of the build rather than something added afterwards, which is worth knowing before you set the budget.
